Keep A Breast Awards $100K in 5th Cycle of Give Back Grants
We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve awarded $100,000 through our Give Back Grant program to support 200 BIPOC breast cancer survivors and patients this year! This marks the fifth cycle of our commitment to directly assist women of color during and after their breast cancer treatment.
Five Years of Financial EmpowermenT
Since launching in 2020, the Give Back Grant has been a crucial part of our ongoing efforts to address the disparities faced by communities of color in breast cancer care. To-date, we’ve awarded over $700,000 in grants to more than 1,000 individuals, providing much-needed financial relief.
“Reaching this five-year milestone is both humbling and motivating,” said Shaney Jo Darden, Founder of Keep A Breast. “We created the Give Back Grant to show up for BIPOC women survivors in real and meaningful ways. Seeing the impact year after year reminds us that small acts of financial support can ripple out into big waves of healing, empowerment, and equity.”
Partnering For Impact
With support from our incredible partners including Curvy Couture, Smart&Sexy and Black Girl Sunscreen, we’re able to ease the financial burdens that come with medical bills, transportation, groceries, and other essential expenses. These brands continue to be a vital part of the program’s success.
“At Smart&Sexy, we believe that confidence starts from within—and everyone deserves to feel supported, seen, and empowered,” said Sara Safarian, Brand Marketing and Communications Manager for Smart&Sexy. “Partnering with Keep A Breast and contributing to the Give Back Grant allows us to do just that. Supporting this initiative year after year is more than a partnership—it’s a promise to always show up for our community.”
Smart&Sexy’s sister brand, Curvy Couture, also continues to play an essential role in supporting the Give Back Grant, empowering women to embrace their bodies and their journeys with confidence.
“At Curvy Couture, we believe Every Kind of Curvy & body deserves to be celebrated, empowered, and adorned,” said Summer Rose Beltran, Brand Marketing Manager for Curvy Couture. “Through the Give Back Grant, we’re creating a space where breast cancer survivors can embrace joy, community, and proper preventative care.”
A Community-Centered Approach to Support
The recipients of our Give Back Grant were selected through a community-centered process, with support from volunteers in the BIPOC survivor and patient community. These grants have already made a tangible difference by helping survivors focus on healing instead of financial stress.
"Every cycle of the Give Back Grant reminds me why this work matters so deeply," said Marquita Goodluck, our Give Back Grant Program Manager and past recipient. "Seeing another 200 BIPOC breast cancer survivors receive the care and recognition they deserve is so rewarding."
We couldn’t do this important work without the generosity of our individual donors, community fundraisers, and corporate partners who believe in making an impact without the red tape.
