ABOUT THE KEEP A BREAST GIVE BACK GRANT
The KAB Give Back Grant directly supports BIPOC women who are breast cancer survivors or have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Different communities are disproportionately impacted by breast cancer and other diseases in different ways. These issues need to be addressed and talked about in order to incite change. For example, while breast cancer is more common in white women, the mortality rate for Black women is higher.
The higher mortality rate for Black women diagnosed with breast cancer is not that of coincidence but instead rooted in a long history of injustice and inequality. Black women are not inherently less likely to survive breast cancer, it is instead lack of access to healthcare, screenings, and education that keep Black women in America at a higher mortality rate than their white counterparts.
The grant cycle will include $500 grants to all selected grantees.
The 2021 grant cycle ended on November 1, 2021. Funds will be awarded by January 15, 2022. Recipients will have 6 months to report back on the use of funds.
Anyone who is a BIPOC woman living in the US who has been diagnosed with breast cancer or is a breast cancer survivor may apply during our next cycle.
