I love being surrounded by beauty; fresh flowers, lip gloss, makeup, sweets, pink lemonade, friends, family, smiles, and gratitude were the perfect elements for a meaningful event. bareMinerals and Keep A Breast officially launched our partnership at the bareMinerals Corte Madera boutique just north of San Francisco. I chose this community because they have one of the highest rates of breast cancer in the country and felt like it would be a perfect place to showcase the Keep A Breast casts of some of my most beloved survivors. This event was to celebrate the new limited-edition Marvelous Moxie® Lipgloss in Survivor.

In support of bareMinerals' mission to make a positive difference in women’s lives, they have partnered with The Keep A Breast Foundation to help raise breast cancer awareness. Throughout the month of October, purchase a limited-edition Marvelous Moxie® Lipgloss in Survivor. Your purchase will help support their donation of $25,000 to The Keep A Breast Foundation. We also selected 12 members from the  bareMinerals community that have been impacted by cancer to get casted. These casts will be displayed in our bareMinerals® boutique in Corte Madera, California all month long.

This event was extra special to me. My mom who was one of the featured artists made the journey all the way from Oregon to be there. She decorated the cast of Allison Briggs Abbot, with a beautiful mosaic piece, she used beach glass and found objects from her travels around the world in a sail boat. “I am a passionate supporter of Keep A Breast, doing anything I can for the organization truly means the world to me. My daughter Shaney jo, the founder of KAB sent me this cast many years ago to paint, I was so scared to paint this cast for fear that I would mess it up it sat in my house untouched for three years. Finally I had a deadline to meet, I wanted to honor the castee, so I decided to make a mosaic piece with collections from my travles all over the world, resembling the journey you go through with cancer and the beauty you find along the way. “ Nancy Jo Darden

In addition it was my honor to have Mona the co-founder of Keep A Breast there. She made the trip with me even though she recently had a double mastectomy and is undergoing chemotherapy for her own breast cancer. I was able to cast her pre-surgery, and as a surprise I had painter and good friend Caia Koopman paint her cast. I was so happy to have her there to see it in person.

"This project meant a lot to me, thank you for choosing me for this very special cast. I picked the power of a ferocious yet beautiful dragon to help our dear friend Mona find her inner strength while battling breast cancer. The camera is to remember and the lotus is for regeneration. I hope the combined imagery makes for a strong and beautiful piece meant to show my love and support for a dear friend. “ Caia Koopman
