Well hello to all of you KABbies out there! I’m Erin and I’m out on the road right now tour managing Therefore I Am on their U.S. tour with The Wonder Years and Man Overboard. I also happen to be a dabbler in the fine art of documentary photography and have shot heaps of bands on Warped Tour and other music tours. You may remember a few of my photos from Keep A Breast’s “Shot In The Pit” traveling exhibition and auction. I’m so excited to be able to lend a hand again now by bringing you stories and photos from tour as the band makes their way across the country playing music and spreading the Keep A Breast message to the masses. If you live close enough to come out to any of the shows, please make sure you stop by the merch booth to say hello and share some stories of your own. I’m looking forward to meeting you and I know the guys are too….
Tristan Prettyman was kind enough to take some time out of her schedule and welcome our Keep A Breast team, Erica and Kassia Meador into her home in North County San Diego to be casted to support our efforts in breast cancer awareness. Tristen has a kind heart and it was a pleasure meeting and working with her. This was her second time being casting by Keep A Breast but this time her cast will play a part in a collection we are putting together now called Women of Rock & Soul. It will feature female musicians from all walks of the music industry from rock to hip hop to indie and blues. Keep your eyes peeled for Tristan on the road in 2010!
Speakeasy Tiger closed out 2009 with an amazing Keep A Breast Music For Awareness show in Denver, Colorado. As a fan of theirs, I was super stoked to have them approach KAB to do an event to benefit the cause and educate their community and peers. They successfully raised $720 for the organization and created one of a kind pieces of art to help raise funds. The band will also be on the Vans Warped Tour this summer, so be sure to check them out! I have included some words from Kyle, the lead singer for the band below.
I am so thankful for such inspiring young people that truly want to make a difference in the health and well being of others.

“The show was a wonderful experience. We created a really intimate setting for everyone to really take focus on why we were throwing the event. I am proud to say we reached our goal for KAB with the help of our dear friend Rachel Yarbrough, who created custom canvas pieces with the silhouette of a woman with lyrics from one of our songs “I can feel it in my chest”. We sold each one with the hope that everyone would walk away with a much deeper awareness on the truth’s of Breast Cancer. Making KAB apart of our music was especially important to me because my mother was diagnosed with cancer when I was 10. Watching Breast Cancer affect the ones you love from a personal level shows how dangerous it can be and how easily it can be prevented if you check yourself and stay in tune with your body. Our great friend Alicia Garrison went through a step by step process on how to check yourself for our audience to see. Not only were we engaged but everyone who attended was wonderfully receptive to the information being shared. I am so hopeful when I see programs like KAB available to young artists like ourselves. With influence comes great responsibility and we are so happy to have the ability to share with others through our music. I am excited for the future and excited to promote good health for all of us! Thank you so much to a great show!” Kyle Simmons of Speakeasy Tiger

A few word from Baptiste from KAB on the Vans Warped Tour.
This is the story of 2 people that don’t know each other that have been working for a couple of years for the same foundation, but not in the same places. Katie and Baptiste are those two kids. The foundation is Keep A Breast. I am so glad I got to meet so many new people, such a cool feeling, and I love the fact of doing something that I consider being really good for Breast Cancer Awareness.
After four weeks on the road, I am still enjoying everything. From the reactive and positive attitude kids have toward Breast Cancer education, to the cool shows I get to see everyday, to such cool bands such as 3oh!3, Chiodos… wearing our tees, making educational videos, and spreading the KAB love all around. And I have to say as a French guy, American people are cool, and girls are way too cute for me haha.
I really like sharing ideas, try to educate people so please, everyone, come and meet Katie and I at one of the upcoming Vans Warped Tour venues . Get some cool stuff such as bracelets, tees, necklaces, stickers… knowing that the money you spend goes toward something good and important. We all know that awareness and education are the keys for a more healthy life for young people. Prevention is part of the cure. Warped Tour 09 is a way for us to spread the word about it!
