Noelle shares her story of Keep A Breast

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

We love sharing emails we recieve from Keep A Breast supporters. This one is particularly amazing. We applaud Noelle for her courage of sharing her story and love that she learned about KAB from her son, and became one of our Treasured Chests! We wish you all the health, love and support this month Noelle! Please keep us updated!

I first learned of KAB while my 14 year old son and I were at a concert 2 years ago in NJ. We went over to the booth to see what it was about and I explained to my son what a great cause this was. We purchased stickers and a shirt, made a donation, came home, put the sticker on his guitar and told my husband and daughter about what we learned. Three months ago my son bought a I love boobies bracelet at Zumiez, and soon his friends were wearing them. I was so proud of the 14 year old boys and girls. Well 4 weeks ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Because of this program my children were not afraid to talk about my cancer and they are more aware then ever how it affects everyone. Two years ago, at that concert, I never thought I would be 40 years old and be the first one in my family to have cancer. Thanks for all you do for this foundation!

Here are photos from the casting last night. The sign I am holding my 11 year old daughter Olivia and her friend Taylor made me over the weekend. I am so thankful Keep A Breast was able to send me the Treasured Chest kit. Now I will have this as a wonderful memory that my friends and I created, because of your generosity. Thanks for the Breast memories!

Keep A Breast was so thankful to be on the Country Throw Down. We had so many amazing new fans come by the tent and pick up a Check Your Self! card and information on breast health and cancer prevention. Fans and band members alike participated in the Keep A Breast “This is My Story” and “Imagine If” Campaigns and got their hands on I Love Boobies merchandise with 100% donations going towards KAB’s education and prevention programs! We even had bands buying bunches of bracelets to send out to their fans and talk about us on stage. We are so so thankful these artists have donated their time to help us educate today’s youth through their music, art and inspiration.

We want to throw a KAB event because we feel that it’s a great way to help. We have had our own personal experiences with breast cancer and know that it’s no joke. We know that youth take the subject lightly too, until they are hit with it, it’s a serious matter, and the more you know about it the better. We feel that Keep-A-Breast being targeted to youth is great, and being in that young generation, we feel connected to it. And they way we are helping is something like we have never participated in before. Many fundraisers are simple, or boring for youth, but we are totally involved in this it’s all we talk about, we tell every one what we want to do with it and they’re all for it. We participate in our towns relay for life, which has been running for two years now, we see how rewarding it is, and with Keep-A-Breast we can get involved and do something on our own, especially as music lovers. We simply just want to help and this is a great way to do it! Carina, Emily, Sam, Juliana and Katie

“I wanted to throw an event for KAB because I feel as though young people don’t realize that breast cancer and many other forms of cancer and life threatening diseases can affect them regardless of age. Cancer has no morals, It takes you when your weak, and can get you when your young. KAB is a great way to show kids and people of all ages the precautions to take to help be more aware of breast cancer. Most of us are affected by breast cancer some way, weather it is direct, like knowing a family member who is diagnosed, or having it yourself. Or, indirect by knowing a friend who knows someone. It is still all around us, and growing. Together we can help raise this awareness!” Adam Hippeli

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Hi!  Andria here from our Traveling Education Booth on the Country Throwdown Tour. Today I made a new friend, Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry !! Troy came by the Keep A Breast booth today in Jacksonville to see what the organization was all about. After looking at all our education materials he decided to pick up three I love Boobies! t-shirts and give us a donation! Here he is wearing one onstage while performing. We are so thankful for musicians like Troy to donate their time and influence the lives of their fans and so much more.

So come hang out when we hit your town and let Montgomery Gentry know that you love Boobies as well!

KAB Traveling Education Booth on the East Coast!

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of amazing events with our Keep A Breast Traveling Education Booth!  I am so thankful to everyone that came out to support Keep A Breast with a smile and open heart!  I started April with the beginning of our tour with Angels & Airwaves and Say Anything.  I love them all so much and am so thankful for all of the support both bands have shown us throughout the years. This tour is the perfect collaboration with KAB…AVA’a message is all about LOVE and so is ours!

I flew straight to LA to go to the Vans Warped Tour meeting and kick off party!  It was awesome! The meeting was great & we let everyone know about our partnership with Klean Kanteen to provide all bands, sponsors and production staff  with non toxic water bottles to help reduce the use of plastic on the tour.  In the evening, we checked out some of the amazing bands that will be rocking all summer long on Warped.

We rolled right into the Coachella Festival at the Vestal Compound with our good friend, Sanuk….all I can say is that is was a beautiful weekend with unforgettable music and great friends! We also were able to cast Rumor WIllis… such a lovely young woman!  I went home and packed my bags as I was off to Nashville, TN for the meeting and kick off party for the first ever County Throwdown Tour!  It is going to be such a great summer to have out our education booth at all of these fun tours!

After my short few days in Nashville, the day after Earth Day ( I chose not to fly on that day ) I flew to NYC for two KAB benefit events in Brooklyn, NY at The Bell House! Day one was a burlesque and fashion show where I casted some of the best burlesque dancers out there! Dirty Martini was the first in line to be cast…what an incredible woman! We also casted Angie Pontani and others that are so supportive of our mission.   Day two consisted of an amazing line up of Pacific Theater, MNDR & Amanda Blank!

Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey was this past weekend and I can hardly describe the amount of support we received from all of YOU!! I was blown away by the line of people the entire weekend that came to say hello and donate! Because of you, we raised over $20K!!  On top of that, we were able to see some great bands throughout the weekend…Protest The Hero Twin Atlantic, Good Old War, Paramore and Weezer…just to name a few.  We can’t thank you all enough for your support of our efforts in raising awareness of such an important cause.

I am back on tour with Angels & Airwaves and Say Anything now and in one of my favorite cities, Philadelphia!
The show is sold out and we are pumped for everyone to come and say hello!  Make sure not to leave any of our events without picking up your very own Check Your Self card….and remember to so your self breast exam at least once per month… you too boys!

See you on the road!

Greetings from Country Throwdown!

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

People on tour know us from our Spencer's Campaign!

Greetings from the road! My name is Andria and I’m your Keep A Breast Ambassador for the Country Throwdown Tour. Today was the first day of the tour and I was unsure what to expect as the country genre isn’t something I’m knowledgeable about. All of the concert attendees were older than those at our usual Warped Tours, wore lots of cowboy boots and hats, and started drinking before I even thought about eating lunch. This is a big change from the tight jeans, v-neck t’s, and neon colors that I’ve seen for years on Warped Tour. Despite crossing over into completely unfamiliar territory one thing remained the same — the support for Breast Cancer Prevention and Education. Everybody that stopped by the Keep A Breast traveling education booth dawned a smile, and was excited to learn from our breast informational pillows. Mothers brought their daughters over to get Check Your Self cards, and fathers bought bracelets, and t-shirts proudly. I’m excited to see what the next five weeks will bring and can’t wait to spread the important message of early detection and checking yourself all over the country world!
