24 year old survivor throws benefit for The Keep A Breast Foundation!

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Amanda has a amazing story and we are so happy to have her want to throw a benefit for The Keep A Breast Foundation!! Amanda Lucas a 24 year old from Milford, MA shares her story:
” I’m a 3 time cancer survivor. I have a heart that is crying out to stop young adult and people in general to get themselves checked. Knowledge is the best weapon when it comes to cancer and prevention.  I met KAB a few years back and they really listened to me, and got teary eyed when i told them my story.
I want to be a person that people know for surviving and doing something about their second chance (4th in my case) and without people like me there will be a lot more under 30 cases being diagnosed at a late stage like myself. ”

Betty Jam 10, Saint- Lary, France.

Monday, March 1st, 2010

On this year’s Valentine’s Weekend, it was out of the question to do V-Day as usual! No flowers or dinner or red heart pillows on our bed! No! After packing the car, we headed to the Pyrenean ski resort of Saint- Lary for a two-days event dedicated to the ladies for the third edition of the Betty Jam, an 100%-girls contest, 18 passionate girls, aged from 8 to 25 came and the whole Keep A Breast Europe Team was there!

Keep A Breast Europe spreads the word of Breast Cancer prevention all over Europe and Idoia and Maia, two competitors from the Basque Country, understood the impact of our message and decided to ride wearing our KAB tee-shirts!

Our prevention message could be heard on the slopes: “Check Your Self”!

Keep A Breast Europe would like to thank the I’m a Girl Association for inviting us on the event.

See you next year!

Ely

Betty Jam 10 ‘, Saint- Lary, France.
« Check Yourself ».
Keep a Breast Europe remercie toute l’équipe de l’association I’m a Girl, organisatrice de l’event Betty Jam depuis trois saisons déjà.
A l’année prochaine !

Lyn’s Smile

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Look at the smile on this beautiful woman Lyn Mills.

We just met Lyn, as she walked into the Keep A Breast traveling education tent at the ROXY PRO in Australia.
Lyn is an 8 year breast cancer survivor. She was walking by our tent at the contest and noticed what KAB was doing, not really realizing that the breast casts on display were being auctioned off, she quietly wished in her mind that she could own the beautiful cast of Mel Evans painted by Tazmen Hayes.

Upon leaving our tent, Lyn’s friend told us that Lyn only had a few days left to live, and if that is truly the case, we pray that it is not, she thanked us for making those last days brighter.

Lyn came back the next day and bought that piece via our silent auction and has this to say:

” I am breast cancer survivor for 8 years. I have advanced breast cancer with bone metasteses. I am honored to have won ” Mel’s Boobs” and to be able to display them in my home. I am totally in love with my tribe (women). Thank you Keep A Breast.

Keep A Breast Foundation Partners with Troy Lee Designs for Anaheim 3 Supercross

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Troy Lee Designs and The Keep A Breast Foundation have teamed up to raise awareness for breast cancer during Anaheim round 3 of AMA Supercross, where the Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda race team wore Pink GP Air “Bolt” Gear and customized “Love / Hate” AIR helmets to commemorate the race. The campaign is part of a larger effort to dedicate the entire race to breast cancer awareness.

Keep A Breast and Troy Lee Designs have created beautifully designed breast casts with Supercross Announcers Erin Bates and Ashley Phillips, that are now up for auction!

“When the opportunity came for us to work with the Keep A Breast Foundation, I was really excited about coming together to raise awareness about breast cancer and someday finding a cure,” says Ashley Phillips. “Any contribution I can make to the research is worth it to me, even if it means getting wrapped in plaster from the waist up! My aunt was diagnosed five years ago, but it wasn’t until one of my friends was diagnosed that I realized its impact on generations of women. Both my aunt and friend are now in full remission! I hope this experience and the entire day will bring more awareness of this disease within our sport.”

Tristan Prettyman gets casted for KAB

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Tristan Prettyman was kind enough to take some time out of her schedule and welcome our Keep A Breast team, Erica and Kassia  Meador into her home in North County San Diego to be casted to support our efforts in breast cancer awareness.  Tristen has a kind heart and it was a pleasure meeting and working with her.  This was her second time being casting by Keep A Breast but this time her cast will play a part in a collection we are putting together now called Women of Rock & Soul. It will feature female musicians from all walks of the music industry from rock to hip hop to indie and blues.   Keep your eyes peeled for Tristan on the road in 2010!
