Live Love Jamboree – Canada

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

On average, 431 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer every week and one in 9 women are expected to develop breast cancer during her lifetime. * As a way to celebrate creativity, inspire action, and bring awareness to an alarming issue, Live Love Jamboree encourages a creative movement of like-minded youth to express and share their passion for art and music. Live Love Jamboree is a benefit for The Keep a Breast Foundation that has been organized by a creative collective promoting positive and artistic ways to take action and bring awareness to breast cancer. In these efforts five one-of-a-kind casts of the female torso adorned by gifted artists, will be up for auction to raise money for The Keep a Breast Foundation.

10 Year old girl diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer

Friday, April 24th, 2009

I wanted to share the story of 10 year old Hannah who was unfortunately diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, Stage IIA . While breast cancer is rare under 18, it is possible. That is why Keep A Breast strongly encourages ladies to start doing their Breast Self Exams when your breasts are fully developed. This usually varies from 10-16.

Hannah’s mother noticed that she was scratching her breast, she asked and Hannah told her that her nipple had been itcy. Her mother was concerned so she asked Hannah if she could take a look and her mother noticed a lump in her breast. When she asked Hannah if how long its been since she noticed her nipple was itcy or the lump in her breast and Hannah told her it had been a month or too. The rest was done by doctors. There is some disccusion over how to treat her as they do not know if she should be treated by a breast cancer specialist or a pediatric oncologist. We will be following her story closely.

Please follow her story at ourlittlesweetpea and give her encouraging words. And please do your monthly Self Breast Exams!

Twitter away for us to win 100k from Hugh Jackman!

Monday, April 20th, 2009

On Wednesday, April 15Hugh  Jackman posted on his Twitter profile “I will donate 100k to one individual’s favorite non-profit organization. Of course, you must convince me why by using 140 characters or less.”

“I’ve always tried to encourage giving, and I think it’s important for everybody to do… to use twitter to do that I’m really enjoying it and I’ve been blown away by what people have been putting on it” said Jackman.

Doing the math, 140 characters adds up to 714 dollars and 28 cents each letter, so choose your words wisely.

Please write to @realhughjackman and let him know how awesome Keep A Breast is!!

Keep A Breast on Modlife!

Friday, April 17th, 2009

We are so stoked to be a part of Modlife. Read what they have to say about partnering with us!

Today is an exciting day as we are launching our first Modlife charity site with Keep A Breast!! The Keep A Breast Foundation’s mission is to expose young people to methods of detection, prevention and support for breast cancer through art, educational programs and fundraising.

KAB heavily integrates music, surfing and skating into their cool mix of events and are heavily supported by a lot of bands on our roster. The Keep A Breast Modlife site will be a hub where everyone can get the 411 on all things breast cancer as well as see behind the scenes of all their wicked casting and auction events as well as see how they raise money by teaming up with your favorite bands like this summer on the Warped Tour.

Modlife has also set up a program for those who are passionate about breast cancer research and prevention and are interested in giving a small monthly donation to the charity to show their support.

Take some time to check out their site and welcome them to Modlife by telling them how much you love boobies too!!
