Ride My Board Day with KAB Ambassador Julie Cox

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

We all know that exercise is one of the best ways to stay healthy. Flushing out your toxins from your lymph-nodes can only be achieved through exercise or lymph brushing… and as much fun as lymph brushing is (actually it feels really cool) surfing is admittedly way more fun. Don’t know how to ride… or want to check out boards specifically made for the ladies? Come on down to Oceanside for a free demo and and clinic.

John Covington’s Art Show “Boundless” donates 25% to KAB.

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

John Covington's Art Show "Boundless" donates 25% to KAB.

On FRIDAY September 18th, from 6PM until 9PM, John Covington and After Hours Gallery will donate 25% of the proceeds of the Gallery’s sales, including sales of Covington’s limited edition art book of the BOUNDLESS exhibition, to Keep-A-Breast Foundation. The fundraiser is on the same night as Third Friday, and both Covington and the After Hours Gallery owners hope to draw another shoulder-to-shoulder crowd of admirers and buyers.

“I was blown away by the response to the work,” says Covington, who started out as a rock drummer, became a custom manufacturer of motorcycles, then transitioned into a career as a commercial photographer in the auto and motorcycle industry. “Women in particular identified with the powerful and liberating images of these nude models. That made me think that perhaps with my success, I could give something back to women who face difficult circumstances. When I learned of the “Keep A Breast” foundation, I felt this was a perfect fit.”

“This show is all about women finding themselves and breaking away from being mere accessories to the cars and motorcycles they usually model with,” adds Russ Haan, one of the owners of the After Hours Gallery. “It’s about their inner stories, their strength, their comfort with their own bodies”.
