Caia Koopman

I first met Caia when she participated in our 1999 Modart exhibit. We have stayed in very close contact since then. The sweet characters she paints, with their big eyes, surrounded by nature, remind me a bit of her own sweetness.

Her paintings tend to incorporate a connection between people and the environment and often include birds, bugs, snakes and flowers. She loves beauty and color and with each painting she tries to capture the wisdom and knowing of her characters along with their sense of mischief.

She is very political and environmentally active, and her paintings carry these messages. When you see her, ask her, and you will be surprised to find out the meaning behind a green beetle, a purple flower, a grasshopper or a blue rose.

For me, Caia and her spirit is an inspiration alone and the best is that she lives only three houses away from me. You can check her out at Caiadesign.com
